YMCA Parade

Starting a few years ago, The Richardson YMCA adopted a holiday parade for the City of Richardson. Every year come Christmas time, YMCA programs each get together and build their own float for the parade--and every year the YMCA is the most represented organization in the event! So why haven't we built a float for this event? Afterall, wouldn't be a great way to advertise our team for next season? Plus, wouldn't it give us all a chance to see each other?

The theme this year is 'Christmas Around the World' and the cost of entry is one new, un-wrapped that gets donated to the Network. Deadline is November 21st. Parade is on December 1st.

However, as the demands of college constantly impose upon our lives, we will not be able to take on a significant role. Ryan will be in Austin studying for finals and Jessica will be couped up in the library at UTD doing the same. Please let us know if you would be interested in taking the lead in organizing this event (or even willing to help in any way).

League Meeting

Hello Team!

It has been a while...we apologize for the lack of updates. Can you believe its October already? Here is what's going on in a swim league near you...

The fall Dallas Metro YMCA League meeting was held in late September and here are some issues covered:

(1) The first summer meet is scheduled for June 7th. This will mean our season will have to start during the last week of school (for RISD). We will have the finalized season dates in early 2008 when we send out the 2008 Parent Packet.

(2) Lone Star is scheduled for July 24th - 27th at the Frisco ISD Natatorium. This date is set in stone, meaning IT WILL NOT CHANGE. Please plan your family vacations accordingly!! After all, we are giving 10 months notice.

An updated team records document will be out within the next week. Biweekly updates will get started as soon as the fall season picks up for the year round teams.

As always, please e-mail us if you have any questions. Or just let us know how you're doing! Believe it or not, we like to hear how you're doing in your club or high school meets.

Lonestar Medals

If you were missing Lonestar medal(s), they are finally in! These were mainly the Sunday night events that weren't ordered in time. Go to the front desk and ask for them. If you think you were missing a medal and want to double check, post a comment or e-mail us. We can check the results for you.

Welcome to the site!!

Welcome Richardson Rapids Swimmers & Parents!


This is the new official way to get all updates during the school year and through out the summer. Keep up to date with information on all swim meets and Dallas YMCA league meetings through out the winter season; as well as ALL summer information, including meets, board meetings, weekly pictures, teams socials, fundraisers, etc. Basically, THIS IS THE NEW PRIMARY COMMUNICATION TOOL.

We will only be using e-mail communication for a weekly e-newsletter starting in May of next year. Hopefully, this will eliminate inbox flooding; but you have to remember to check the blog on your own! If you have any questions, e-mail us at richardson.rapids@hotmail.com. Or to chat with eachother, post a comment using the 'comments' link immediately below this entry. Also, there is a blog archive to the right side of the page for you to easily navigate through posts if needed.

Our goal is to provide you with constant information so you will never be in the dark about anything. Expect updates on a bi-weekly basis throughout the school year. Expect them every other day during the summer.

Thanks for helping us make this transition, it will prove to be a big communication improvement upon next season! Have a good school year, dont forget to brush up on your strokes once in a while, and see you next summer!
